Us
The
City of Griffin Geographical Information System (GIS) Department is
a division of the Stormwater Department. The GIS Department was added
in 1998 as a means to collect and manage the City of Griffin's infrastructure
data through the use of GPS and mapping software.
The City of Griffin GIS Department’s
mission:
To provide immediate support to various departments and customers through
access and analyzation of digital data and inventory of the City of
Griffin's infrastructure.
Responsibilities of The GIS Department
To maintain the City of Griffin’s inventory of infrastructure
and objects with geomatic equipment and software. Create reports and
analyze data in a support role for Stormwater, Water/Wastewater, and
Public Works. Continue and maintain the operation of a Continuously
Operating Reference Station (CORS) in support of a survey-grade data
collection system. Maintain computers and servers which act as an access
point for other employees to view the GIS database.
