The City of Griffin GIS Department |

The
GIS Department uses a number of means to collect its digital data. We
use digital As-Builts provided by contractors as well as a Leica 1200
GPS System. This GPS system collects its digital data through the use
of satellites. Data is relayed from satellites to the CORS Station (Continuously
Operating Reference Station). The data is then transmitted to a receiver
inside a backpack worn on the user via a wireless modem. |

The
data collected is imported into mapping software called ArcView. Once
there, the data can be managed and given attributes. |

|
||||
|
Once
the data has been catalogued it is ready for use by the end user. We
provide on screen viewing and print outs of the data as well. |
