Adopt-A-Stream
Program
This established and effective state program has been implemented within
the city and will continue to be a curtail water quality preservation
program supported by Griffin. Contact the Public Works Department at
770-229-6424 to learn more about the programs schedule.

Available Through the Chamber of Commerce, the Welcome Center and local
city government offices.
Classroom
Local educators will present various information topics at city schools
classrooms and colleges (i.e. Water Wise, Enviroscape Model). The City
is currently working with local industry to develop a partnership for
educating the community. Some activities include construction of an
outdoor classroom, implementation of industry BMPs and presentation
of nonpoint source awareness literature.

The
City of Griffin has an interactive cd-rom game to teach children about
the pollution problems facing our watersheds and how to avoid them.
To obtain copies for your classroom, please contact the Public Works

How Water Works - An Interactive Tour
The American Water Works Association has created a virtual tour of how
water is collected, treated and used in a typical water supply system.
Beginning with the reservoir and wells and continuing through a water
filtration plant, into the distribution system and consumer's homes,
and out through a wastewater plant.

Local newspaper, radio, and television stations will be forums for the
presentation of program status and results.
Recycling Programs

- Allows users to search for recycling centers by zipcode. Listed are
places where consumers can take various types of hazardous materials
along with normal household items as well.
Speakers Bureau
The City of Griffin's Public Works Department affords the opportunity
to your group, Civic Club or organization to have qualified staff present
various aspects of your Public Works and Utilities Departments. Contact

Topic will range from Water to Stormwater to Transportation.
WaterWise
and Griffin Spalding Schools
The
City of Griffin's Public Works and Utilities has partnered with The
Griffin/Spalding School System to present all 5th grade students the
opportunity to understand and conserve our precious water resource through
the Water Wise Program. Each student will be given a Water Wise Activity
Kit and required to report specific data assigned in the program. The
kit includes:
